The Don Carlos lancero is still a rare cigar to find. It was hearty looking, evenly colored with a slightly toothy wrapper. The cigar was as firm as a rock between the fingers with a draw that had just the slightest resistance, making this an incredibly smooth and effortless to enjoy. There were sweet notes of cedar with a very slight floral tone. The smoke had a dense and creamy texture with a mild, yet sharp white peppery kick through the nose and on the back end of each puff. The aroma was rich, sweet and had a luring quality. The burn was razor sharp and it produced a tight, light gray ash. Outstanding construction overall. Fuente makes incredible lancero shaped cigars that smoke like they should, flawlessly time and time again. Medium in strength with a fuller bodied finish. Very well balanced overall. The Don Carlos blend is an excellent way to start the day with a strong cup of coffee.
