Asylum Cigars Straight Jacket

Asylum Cigars Straight Jacket

This cigar had a dark and oily wrapper with barely any visible seams. The pre-light nose was light and clean, smelling of well-fermented tobacco. Once lit, it was evident this was going to be a full natured cigar with a heavy mouth-feel and deep, dark flavors. It had a big black pepper profile when retro-haling the smoke and a mouthwatering texture in the taste, which helped to coat the flavor evenly around the palate. The initial hit of the full body evened out and balanced with the flavor and full aroma. Coffee and earth notes dominated the taste, which also had a big, lingering peppery characteristic that was even more powerful through the nose. It had a slow and even burn that produced a medium colored dense ash that had to be pulled off of the cigar. There was a slight sweet note in the aroma, which also lingered on the back end flavor of each puff. Overall this was a medium-full bodied cigar with full aromas and flavor. It was a cigar that continued to intensify and develop as it burned down with a big spicy character.
