Joya de Nicaragua Cinco Dé Cinco Corona Doble

This larger cigar had a soft pressed shape and was covered with a dark and oily wrapper.  The pre-light nose was clean with slight tangy sweet, earthy tones.  The sweetness was more pronounced on the cold draw flavor and had mild floral and hay like notes.

Once lit, the cigar immediately provided dense, creamy, full bodied smoke with a deep, earthy flavor profile and a big cocoa note.  It had a good amount of spice that lingered on the back end of each puff with red and white peppery spices through the retro hale.

Medium strength in the beginning developed to full an inch or so in and balanced well with the body, full flavors and aroma that the cigar provided.  The aroma had more spice, traces of nuts and a lot of cocoa-like notes.

The intensity of the cigar picked up as it was enjoyed – from the spices to the flavor, aroma and strength, which could sneak up on you.  Ideal to kick back with after a big meal or paired with a favorite beverage.

Outstanding construction with just a slight resistance on the draw and a slow, even burn that hung on to a long, light gray ash.   Overall this was a hardy, spicy cigar with a full and rich character.
