El Septimo Mi Familia Limited Edition Lancero

An attractive looking lancero shaped cigar with an oily wrapper. The pre-light nose was intriguing, mildly sweet with a clean-barn/hay-like note which carried over to the cold-draw taste. Once lit, the cigar had an “old world” type of character in the aroma and flavor with similar notes to the pre-light nose.
There was mild spice in the flavor, but was more pronounced in the nose on the retro hale. The peppery spices picked up, lingering in the taste. It had a lighter medium body with mild-medium strength in the first half, while it leaned towards fuller strength in the second half and lingered in the back of the throat.
There were some traces of ammonia in the aroma but didn’t overwhelm the other flavors. The cigar had a nice burn that held on to a salt and pepper colored ash. A decent draw allowed smoke through to the palate without too much effort. Overall a fairly straightforward, spicy cigar.
