Gran Habano Cigars (Tabacalera Unidos) G.A.R.
This cigar had great eye and hand appeal with its box-pressed shape and rustic looking oily, toothy wrapper. The pre-light nose and taste was very unique with vegetal notes and spices. It was firm in the hand yet had a slight resistance which made this an effortless, smooth smoking cigar. There was a good amount of white and black peppery spices in the nose, which also lingered on the palate through the finish. The flavor was unique with some floral notes and interesting spicy characteristics that carried over into the aroma of the smoke. The cigar continued to gain momentum as it was smoked with a mild-medium start and a rather long and full finish. When new, this cigar exhibited a unique profile with intriguing spices and aromas, which were still present after nearly eight years of aging. It had a solid medium body which worked well with the flavors and never overwhelmed the taste buds. This was still a unique, complex cigar that was packed with flavor.
