Illusione Epernay Tuonela Le Monde

A dark, deep reddish brown wrapper covered this cigar that had noticeable tooth and a rugged appearance. The pre-light nose was rich with tangy sweet floral and hay like note that carried over to the dry-draw flavor. Once lit, the initial flavor and aroma was just like the pre-light notes with the addition of subtle peppery spices that lingered in the nose.
The draw was as smooth as can be, effortless with just a touch of resistance. The flavor and aroma continued to develop and became richer as the cigar was enjoyed. The aroma had that same tangy sweet smell similar to a hand of rich, well-fermented tobacco. The smoke had a full body with full flavors that lingered on the taste buds. Some cocoa and wood tones developed.
The spices were more subtle on the palate but were present when retro-haling the smoke. It wasn’t overwhelming and added another layer of flavor and texture when you wanted it. Medium strength for most of the duration leaning a little more to medium-full in the last third. The burn was extremely even and produced a long gray ash. Outstanding construction through and through.
This cigar engaged the senses before lighting it all the way to the end. It delivered a lot of flavor, a luring aroma and was well balanced on the palate. Definitely a cigar you’ll want to sit back with and let the world slip by while enjoying every puff and nuance it had to offer.
