J.C. Newman Cigar Co. Cuesta-Rey Centro Fino
This cigar has been aged in the original tube since we acquired it in 2008. There was obvious cedar notes on the pre-light smell and taste, which also had a mint-like refreshing quality. Once clipped an effortless draw provided large volumes of smoke. The texture of the smoke was extremely creamy with little to no spice, even when retro-haling the smoke through the nose.
It had a dominating cedar quality with graham cracker-like notes in the aroma. The burn was outstanding and held on to a very long, nearly white ash. This cigar had dramatically changed over eight years. Being cedar wrapped inside of the tube contributed to a lot of the flavor that was left with a mild nuttiness.
This would be a great cigar for someone looking for a mild flavored, mild bodied cigar that will burn great and smoke without a hitch. While not a full bodied cigar to begin with one expects it to mellow out. It was still a very pleasant smoke that had a mild spice and was very consistent throughout.
