Quesada Cigars 50th Anniversary Toro Prensado
An impressive looking larger format box pressed cigar that was comfortable in the hand. It was firm to the touch from the head to the foot with no soft spots. The lighter brown wrapper had noticeable veins yet a silky texture.
The pre-light nose was light with mildly sweet tones and wood like traits. Once lit, those same characteristics came through in the taste with a white peppery spicine in the nose that didn’t overwhelm the senses.
The draw was smooth and effortless with just the right amount of resistance. The smoke was creamy and had a drier texture at first, which became more mouthwatering as the cigar developed.
The aroma maintained a nice level of spice that seemed to accentuate the woody flavor profile. The cigar had a burn that was nearly flawless, incredibly even and hung on to a long, light grey ash. It had a milder strength and body to start which did pick up as the cigar was smoked. Wood traits dominated the flavor profile and intensified as the cigar progressed. Some nutty tones developed along with a sweet, toffee-like tone in the second half that was really noticeable in the aroma.
There was a full flavor profile and while not overly complex it was intriguing and kept the senses entertained. The characteristics of the aroma were very similar to the taste. Mild strength for the first half, eventually finishing out medium.
A very smooth smoking experience that offered a lot of nice qualities, flavor, aroma and extremely well balanced.
