RabbitAir MinusA3 Ultra Quiet Air Purifier Review
RabbitAir MinusA3 Ultra Quiet Air Purifier
I’ve had my eye on RabbitAir for quite some time so I was pretty excited to finally get my hands on one. Until now, I haven’t had any sort of air purifier in my smoke room. As you can imagine, it smells like a smoke room and easily fills with smoke when enjoying a cigar – especially when more than one person lights up.
What is RabbitAir?
Simply put – RabbitAir is an all-in-one air purifier that doesn’t just clean the smell of smoke, it captures bacteria, cooking odors, dander, dust particles, pet odors, exhaust fumes, mold, pet hair, pollen and even particles that can carry viruses. There are different models one can choose from (check out RabbitAir for more options).
RabbitAir MinusA3
This is the unit we are looking at today, which is designed to cover an area of 1070 sq. ft. and features a six-stage air purification and deodorization. This model comes with a price tag of $749.95. So, is it worth it and does it work?
First look
The unit itself is nice and compact so it can easily fit wherever you need it to. Out of the box it’s plug and play, everything is ready to go. The front panel is attached by magnets and is easily removed and reattached so access the filters couldn’t be easier. The magnetic panel on my unit is just black but there different option of designs to choose from. The filers are attached by two latches and are easily removed. They come apart just as easy when it’s time to replace, customize or clean. The control panel is easy to navigate whether you want to set it on auto or create your own personalized settings with negative ions, fan speed, air quality and even mood lighting. It really couldn’t be easier.
MinusA3 Six-Stage Purification and Deodorization
Let’s dive into the six stages:
- The Pre-Filter. The first stage is designed to capture large sized allergens, dust and particles including pet hair and pollen.
- Medium Filter. This filter is designed to capture particles larger than 1 micron in size, which includes pollen, dust, pet hair and pet dander allergens.
- Dual Hive Carbon Filter. The dual hive AC filter uses high grade granular activated carbon (what you need to capture odor) in two staggered layers, which captures more chemicals and stubborn household odors by maximizing air-to-carbon contact. This stage of the filter captures cooking odors, exhaust fumes, greenhouse gases, household odors, pet odors, TOBACCO SMOKE and volatile organic compounds.
- BIOGS HEPA Filter. This filter traps 99.9% of 0.3 micron particles. It traps airborne allergens, bacteria and viruses. This also inhibits growth of odor causing bacteria and mold on the filter media. This stage of the filter also captures bacteria, cooking odors, dander, dust particles, pet odors, exhaust fumes, mold & fungi, pet hair, pollen and virus carrying particles.
- This filter stage is customizable depending on what you want to achieve – targeting germ defense, toxin absorber, pet allergens or an odor remover.
- The last stage is for Negative Ions. Negative ions help the air purifier by latching on to airborne particles, weighing them down and allowing them to get trapped more easily by the other stages of filters.
The filters need replacing after 12 months (if running the unit 24/7), which will cost $115.95 annually. Ok so that’s a run-down of the filters. Sounds great – and while I’m not so concerned with what each of the stages do (although it is pretty cool), the bigger question is – does it work? I love the idea of cleaner air and that’s a bonus – but how does it work with cigar smoke?
Ultra Quiet?
100%. You can barely hear the unit and will find yourself checking to make sure it’s on.
Smoke:
Having placed the unit right behind my desk, I could immediately see less smoke in the room when smoking near the unit to the point it was almost nonexistent. For a machine that you can barely hear, it is powerful. I would give this an A+ when it comes to removing smoke, no question. Time will tell how it will handle multiple cigars being smoked at once and we will revisit this review when the time comes, however, for my needs it works better than expected.
Lingering Smell:
After moving five years ago and smoking in my office every day since has left its mark. So after seeing how well it can do with cleaning the immediate smoke in the room, the big question was how will it do with the lingering smell that’s been building up for so many years. After running the machine for just one day, 90% of the smoke smell was gone. I didn’t expect it to remove 100% of the smell, but was surprised as to how much it actually did remove and the smell seemed to improve as each day passed. I just hit the “Negative Ions” button at let it work it’s magic.
Is it worth it?
$750 isn’t a cheap investment for an air purifier, but if you can, get it. The RabbitAir MinusA3 did exactly what it was designed to do. I have a large space for smoking cigars indoors and can only imagine that it would work magic on a smaller room based off of what it did for mine. I would highly recommend getting one of these or any of their other models depending on space of your room and budget. Make sure to check out RabbitAir for different models and a lot more details behind how it works.
