Romeo Y Julieta 150th Anniversary Balconet

A dark and oily wrapper covered this cigar with some toothiness and noticeable veins. The pre-light nose was light and had a touch of sweetness. There were notes on of wood on the dry-draw taste. It had a firm draw but wasn’t a hindrance as it still allowed plenty of smoke through to the palate with ease. Right away the cigar offered spicy black and red pepper notes in the taste with more of the wood, cedar-like notes from the pre-light. Full strength set in fairly early on and didn’t let up.

It had a full body with a dense texture that seemed to linger on the palate. The burn was slow, even and produced a long salt and pepper colored ash. Great overall construction. The intense spicy traits at first light did balance out some but were always present throughout the experience and lingered on the back end of each puff. The aroma was sweet with some cocoa and a big woody presence. This cigar had a big personality. More suitable for an experienced palate, especially those who enjoy full strength, spicy cigars that will leave a lasting impression.
