Villiger Cigars Villiger 1888

Villiger Cigars Villiger 1888

The wrapper on this cigar was oily and had a rich looking brown color. The pre-light smell was bold with tangy sweet and spicy earth notes, with some grass and hay-like notes on the taste. The cigar was solid to the touch and had an incredibly smooth draw. Notes of coffee, peppery spices, graham cracker, with a tangy sweet note were all noticeable as the cigar was lit. The graham cracker really came through in the aroma of the smoke. The aroma was rich with a luring, crowd-pleasing smell. The spiciness carried over to the taste the longer the cigar was smoked and was consistent in the nose when retro-haled. The burn was slow and incredible with a razor edge and it hung on to a long and dense gray ash. Outstanding construction through and through. While age has seemed to tame out the flavor and body some, it had a more refined and balanced characteristic to the overall experience with a light, yet rich and very appealing aroma. Mild-medium body with flavors and an aroma toward the full side of the spectrum. A unique cigar when new, it’s a great cigar with age.
